Forest Tech / Forester

POSITION: Forest Tech / Forester

LOCATION: Northeast Florida

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will be field work consisting of forest inventories, timber and boundary marking; collecting GPS field data, in addition to other detailed organizational skills with files and paperwork. The field time work may consist of up to 30% out of town work annually.

REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking highly motivated individuals with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment. A minimum two year forestry degree is required. An additional 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar forestry field is preferred. Computer skills and other digital skills will be necessary. Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes the ability to traverse distances over one mile on uneven terrain; work in outdoor forested areas for extended periods in a variety of environmental conditions; occasionally carry 5 to 10 pounds of equipment over longer distances for extended periods of time. Must be able to work independently during a work week and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must have an insurable driving record.

LOG SCALER / FOREST TECHNICIAN

POSITION: Log Scaler/Forest Technician

LOCATION: Chestertown, NY

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will be approximately 75% time working in the F&W operated Chestertown log yard and 25% time working as a forester/forestry technician for F&W Forestry clients. Seasonally the percentage of time will vary depending on level of activity in the log yard. In the log yard the responsibilities will be scaling and grading logs as they come into the yard and operating equipment to sort them. Also, could be the operating of log loaders in moving logs, unloading trucks, and loading trucks out. Other work would be as per the Yard Manager as needed.

The time spent as a forester would consist of timber sale layout and marking, forest inventories, boundary line marking and timber sale inspections. Much of this work would be on the 93,000-acre Upper Hudson Woodlands property under the supervision of the Client Manager running the timber sale program on the property.

REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking highly motivate individuals with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment. A minimum two-year degree is desired and experience with log grading and scaling is preferred. Computer skills and other digital skills will be necessary as well as the ability to operate or learn to operate yard equipment such as log loaders. Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Due to the forestry component of the job the ability to traverse distancers over one mile on uneven terrain; work outdoors in both the yard or forested areas for extended periods of time in a variety of environmental conditions; ability to sometimes carry 5 to 10 pounds of equipment over longer distances for extended periods of time. Must be able to sometimes work independently during a work week and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must have an insurable driving record and pass a background check and a drug test.

ACCOUNTANT

POSITION: Accountant

LOCATION: Albany, Georgia

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will be providing accounting services to clients of F&W, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, maintain fixed asset schedule, and prepare periodic financial statements.

REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking a highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field is referred. A CPA is a plus.

FORESTER

POSITION: Forester

LOCATION: Corinth, Mississippi

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will be field work consisting of forest inventories, timber, and boundary marking; collecting GPS field data, prescribed burning, logging supervision, planting supervision in addition to other detailed organizational skills with files and paperwork. Occasional travel out of town will be required for inventory work.

Computer skills and other digital skills will be necessary. Good written and verbal communication skills are required.

POSITION: Forester

LOCATION: Charlottesville, Virginia

RESIDENCE: Location is negotiable, but it is preferable for employee to live within 50 miles south or southeast of Charlottesville, VA.

ANALYST

POSITION: Forest Inventory Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will focus on forestland inventory analysis and reporting with F&W’s TIMBER® inventory software, forestland inventory project management, inventory and analysis support for F&W’s branch offices, and application of growth & yield software to assist in investments analysis. Additional duties will include inventory map creation with ESRI ArcMap.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in forestry or closely related field with experience in forest sampling, mensuration, statistics, and forest measurements. Strong technical and quantitative skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Access, and Word. Proficiency with inventory software, growth, and yield modeling and ESRI GIS software is needed.

FORESTER

POSITION: Forest Tech/Forester

LOCATION: Southwestern Virginia

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will be field work consisting of forest inventories, timber sale layout, timber harvest management, boundary marking, collecting GPS field data, in addition to other detailed organizational skills with files and paperwork. The primary responsibility will be assisting The Nature Conservancy (TNC) with field work on 153,000-acre property located in Russell, Wise, Dickenson, and Buchanan Counties, Virginia. Work schedule will be approximately 50% time on TNC property; 20% time on 20,000-acre TIMO client lands in Tazewell County, Virginia & McDowell County, West Virginia; 30% time on out of town projects primarily in the southeast United States.

SALESPERSON / BROKER

POSITION: Real Estate Salesperson/Broker with Fountains Land

LOCATION: Northern New York, Adirondack Region

RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct real estate marketing and sales services for our existing client base while working with our marketing division to expand business regionally.

REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking an individual with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Must possess solid experience in the real estate business and hold a NY Real Estate License. Experience with land sales of all sizes is a must. Experience with forest / land management is a plus. Professionalism, adherence to high ethical standards, dedication to serving client needs, good writing / communication skills and experience managing a business center are critical requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Real estate duties include, but are not limited to, marketing existing client lands, preparation of marketing material, daily interface with customers, working with other members of the real estate / management team and, procurement of new business.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An associates or bachelor’s degree is a plus. Solid experience in real estate sales and marketing required.

COMPENSATION: Salaried with commission supplement.
